Lock Man at Maker Faire

MakerFaire is one of the most creative and innovative festivals I’ve ever been to, a gathering of ingenuity and technical expertise. Angela and I visited a friend who was presenting, and was blown away by this statue covered in locks. I don’t know who did it or what its name was, but it was incredible. In some ways, it reminded me of the robots from Laputa Castle in the Sky, but at the same time, had its own distinct take. I’m always amazed to see something like this built in actual physical form. I want to make comparisons to writing, life, how we lock ourselves away with all these self-imposed restrictions and negativity. But I think they’d all flat just seeing the grim beauty of this statue, how it hovers imposingly, both scary and yet marvelous.
