Tieryas Mini-Reviews Spanish Fork by Marcus Slease

tapas

Spanish Fork by Marcus Slease is a gorgeous collection of poetry and prose that’s both whimsical and provocative. While the titular reference is geographical, the Spanish Fork becomes allegory for the intersection of gastronomy and philosophy, love and food. It’s very short and a quick read you can devour in the fashion of tapas. Like those side dishes, the full meal will leave you gorged with wondrous diction, as in the following:

I’m not spooning a single soul

I began in a failed society

mushy peas and fried pineapples

the present is a baffled weather

it is a gamble to get off

it is a gamble

to declare yrself

missing, oh

I’ve long wanted to read work by Marcus Slease and am real glad I got to do so here. Make sure to check it out for free online at:
