I saw these kids running around an alley in Beijing and quickly snapped some photos. They were very friendly, though puzzled by my presence as I was with a friend and speaking English. I could tell what added to their curiosity about my foreign tongue was because I looked Chinese to them, ha ha. I love talking with kids because for some odd reason, they can understand my Mandarin, even if it is with a bad accent. And better yet, I can understand them with ease! They speak on the level that I speak and so we have a mutual understanding (mine, because my Mandarin is bad, and them, because they’re still learning!). I wonder where these kids are now.
